Re: canon 55-250 IS blur edge, anyone?

Some more info :

The distorsion in my dad's lens did strongly depend on the focal length.
Between 55 and 120 mm and at the far end at 250 mm there were no problems.
But around 190 mm the distorsion was very bad in the corners and at left center.

Horizontal lines remained sharp, but vertical lines had a strong blur at these places.
Changing diaphragm had very little influence on the distorsion.

We did send the lens to Canon twice. The first time they did not find any problem. Just like in your case.
I guess they did test it only at 55 mm and 250 mm, where there were no problems.

The second time we sent the lens to Canon, we added a detailed report, asking them to pay special attention around 190 mm.
We also added some of our pictures in which the distorsion was very evident.

This time they confirmed that the lens had a problem, they renewed the IS element and did some callibration.
Now the lens works very satisfactory.

Regards,
Sandor.
