No doubt. But considering that I've been shooting 24+mp stitches pretty quickly and easily before the D3x appeared, I have to compare that to the price differential.

Yes, I do. But I'm not going to be doing that until I've got new charts and redo my test rigs.

Those numbers came from a test which was done in a German magazine
recently. My expectations are that the Nikon will probably be better
even by offering higher than 2063 LP with a lens like the 35 1.4 or
the PC-lenses or any other which is known to be good

But that's part of my point. To actually test what's the limiting factor on resolution, you need to use the same lens on both. That's why I own a Nikon-> Canon mount adapter, so that I can use the same lens when I'm doing side by side Canon/Nikon tests.
