Which telezoom for the D700?

I just recently got a D700 + 24-70/2.8 and would be grateful for some lens advice. I'm looking for a good telezoom for generic (mostly handheld) outdoors photography with maybe some occasional action/sports shots. The Nikon 70-200/2.8 VR is too pricey for my current budget so I'm trying to evaluate the cheaper alternatives.

Nikon 70-300 VR
+ the cheapest one in this group
+ VR

  • 4.5-5.6 is a bit on the slow side

Sigma 150-500 OS
+ excellent reach (important for FX)
+ OS

  • f/5-6.3

  • based on reviews, soft images and slow AF

Sigma 100-300/4
+ reviews give the impression the sharpness and AF is very good for the price
+ constant f/4 aperture

  • no OS

Sigma 70-200/2.8 DG HSM Macro
+ allegedly sharp and fast AF
+ f/2.8

  • no OS

Most reviews I've read have tested the above lenses on a DX body, so I'm interested in hearing opinions from people who've used them on an FX body. Especially the Sigma 70-200/2.8 seems like a very tempting alternative for the Nikon 70-200 as it's about 1000€ cheaper here. Or do you think the Nikon lens is so much better that I should just wait for a couple of months and get it instead?
