Is there a big difference in speed between the cheap cards and the so-called high speed smartmedia cards that run $100 plus? I have a 128 meg olympus card and am looking for another 128, I want to get a good price but if there is a performance difference I'd be willing to spend more, any thoughts?
TIA,
Jon

They all come out of two factories as I understand it. No difference except the OLY card does panoramas. You can do panoramas with others by using software like PS Elements or Panorama Factory to assemble them. Buy the cheaper cards. No problem

ARE there ones costing that much? - I get mine (last ones have been Fuji) for £39.90 UK - Digidepot and as most things are cheaper in the states, it seems hard to think of one costing $100 except on Ebay of course..

As they don't have a controller onboard like CF has, there shouldn't * be a problem as there are only a handful of Mfrs making SM cards, maybe as few as three
