Same image, claim more megapixels = more sales

A study analyzed the effect of a quantitative specification that has no useful information on a buyer's purchasing decision. One example was the pixel count of a digital camera when the relevant image was directly provided for viewing. Changing from no pixel specification to diagonal resolution specification and to total pixel specification without changing the image increased buying preference from 26% to 51% to 75% respectively.
