The number one thing to note: resolution is not measured in megapixels. Resolution is typically measured in line (pairs) per picture height or per unit length.

Sigma
have shot themselves in the foot by advertising the Foveon as a 4.6Mp
sensor.

What advertising are you reading? For example, how many megapixels are mentioned on this page?

I would have a camera with a Foveon sensor over a CCD any day.....if
the price was right!

The SD14 is one of the cheapest DSLRs around right now. So what price is right?
