Not cropped.
AF works quite well with the 1.7TC. It was
a sunny day in the Everglades and I noticed
no issues with the AF.

The 500 f4 is a better lens: sharpness, contrast, reach.
For birds, the longer the lens the better.
For me, the 500 is the best mix of size and weight
and focal length and aperture. I passed on the 600 f4.

Still, the 200-400 is a very nice lens. I used it very
happily until I got the 500.
