Hi alls,

Did you see Canon post new firmware for D60 already? Why is not Nikon? Will Nikon listen to their customers?
Lan Dao?

The Canon was released long before the Nikon. Give Nikon time to get all the feedback in and then make changes if it is needed.

Nikon should develop new firmware for D100 to rectify the sharpness issue (with acceptable sharpness with "none sharpness setting") and to rectify the brightness issue as the D100 often under-exposes for about 1 stop.

I think most D100 owners are presently experiencing these 2 problems, if Nikon can quickly rectify these 2 problems, the reputation of D100 can be regained.

Although there are some people who do not consider these are problems at all, because they can post-process the photos with PS. But I think Nikon should take care of the majority of D100 users and allow them to obtain good quality photos straight from the camera without the time consuming post processing.
I will keep my D100 until there is new firmware upgrade.

Hi Jusko,

That what I mean. Nikon have all problems (underexpo, flash issues...) with CP5000 and they never fixed that problem. Now the D100 too it still have problems with underexpo and sharpness issues. Hope Nikon Prep (or who ever) read my thread and will have a new firmware soon. Otherwise all Nikon users will go for Canon DSRL for the next generation. Sorry for my bad English.

Hi LD,

Did Canon reply for the problem of slow AF which has been addressed by many D60 users?

Jusko,

Simple facts, with no sharpening on, you will get a soft image, period. You are using a AA filter in front of the CCD on the D100 just like the D1x, just like any of the current DSLR's. The only diff. is the how harsh the filter is, which then relates to overall softness.

You can't compare the workflow of the D100/D1x/D1h etc to a prosummer camera like the Sony 707. The Sony will take an excellent image, its CCD is 1/10 or less the size of the sensor in the D100. You can't get raw from it and even if you turn off the in camera sharpening, I can assure you that some sharpening is going on during the interpolation. All these camera use Bayer pattern CCD's.

hint , maybe you should use the exposeure compensation feature
and change your sharpness settings and save them in a bank !!

I did not go to that site because I am not a canon fan. The D100 was my first DSLR. Still learn the new toy up till now. Today I just figure out taking picture in the raw mode giving me a very good result. I think now I do not need a firmware because there are many thing to learn to master the camera (like how to control the underexpo which is the big issue discussed on another thread).
