DOF in relation to focal length

The thing I like about this gent is he quotes equivalence lens speeds
on 400, 500, and 600 mm EFL lenses. He must believe its of great
importance to narrow the DOF of monster lenses more than they
naturally are.

Either he shoots subjects farther away or he never shoots to that
level of telephoto. Long, fast lenses have a curse of too little
DOF. Most hope for enough light to stop down.

Focal length:100mm, F stop:4, Distance to subject: 16.667 ft, DOF => 2ft
Focal length:600mm, F stop:4, Distance to subject: 100 ft, DOF => 1.99ft

And your point was?

It is time for him to return to Canonland.

I agree... there's nothing to gain here by talking to a bunch of people who think FourThirds is the pill for their personality disorders.
