Re: FF is a lifestyle accessory.

Hi Mikko

The bulk of normal 35mm system lenses makes impractical for most
users? How on earth have we managed to take perfectly good pictures
with our bulky lenses for 80 years?

I don't know about 80 Years (you must be really old?), I have only taken pictures for some 30 years. I have a LX3 it vastly outperforms anything (except for zoom) that was available (to me and my friends) back then. When I say vastly outperforms, I mean it is so much better technically that it is beyond comparison.

Yet somehow pictures came out of the process that sometimes were really good. But it was a project and often a team effort to get those pictures.

Nowadays it seems like people cannot take pictures of a F* ing bird without ISO 25K and F1.2 lenses. This has nothing to do with taking pictures or sharing them but everything to do with the equipment and the choice of lifestyle it signals.

And the D700/5D are not really that expensive, even when compared to
what digital cameras cost 10 years ago. Or even five. Certainly they
are more expensive than E-520 or the D60 or the the 450D, but then
again the image quality is not comparable either.

Not comparable? You have to be a specialist to see the difference, and even specialists has problems. Why do you think that there is so much debate on this site?

FYI: Pictures shown to regular people (non photo enthusiasts) would by the way rate the D700 the worst of the lot.

"completely untrue and ludicous" sounds about right. I am amazed also.

It is an inverted pyramid of piffle. It is all completely untrue and ludicrous conjecture. I am amazed people can write this drivel.
