Nikon D2???

The answer is simply yes, and we know for sure there will be a D3 succeding the D2, and D4 to D3...

Joking aside, it's very likely the D2 will house a 10mp non full frame sensor.
Is Nikon going to come out with a D2 to succede the D1x???

Well, there are some rumours. I think it is safe to say there will be a D1x successor, but nobody here knows anything (specs, time, ...). Several people are hinting towards a 10 MP non-full frame CCD, which in my opinion is quite a realistic estimate (less pixels is simply not worth it, more pixels will technically be possible but too expensive, a full frame sensor will also be very expensive and have its drawbacks).

For all the other features, your guess is as good as ours. I'd say it is reasonable to assume that CF-cards will still be used (if there is room in the camera, Nikon might switch up to PC-cards, but I personally doubt it), as CF currently offers the largest storage in a small formfactor.

But I will say it again: we know nothing... :-)

Hi,

I could easily produce a Nikon D2, and do it as soon as tomorrow.

All I have to do I screenprint a nice, sharp 'D2' moniker onto the F5 body of a Kodak DCS 760. You know, where it still says F5 at the moment.

I could easily do this, since my wife and I own a screenprinting company.

I could also easily rework the bottom of the 760 where it currently says 'Kodak' in big letters.

Then there would be a Nikon D2 in the world!

Any one want to send my a 760 to perform the magic on?

Oh, and I suppose I could do this to a D1X equally well. Just send me the camera! Any takers?

Note that I don't mention anything about sending it back , though! :-)
