DNG doesn't solve that problem

You aren't under the impression that DNG resolves that issue are you? There's a difference between being able to read a value and make use of it. As software progresses and algorithms improve, the old values lose their meaning. It's a decision by the software developer to retain legacy code, not a function of the file format.

That's why you should use rendered file formats for those purposes that require that the rendering not change, i.e. archiving a result delivered to a customer.
