Re: Sharpening in LR

You can now "print" to a JPG, I understand - for example, when sending a sharpened and resized image to an external printing service. This will include LR output sharpening, so that the strength and effect of the various settings can be judged. It isn't a "live" preview, sure, but at least it's a workaround.

Once experience tells us what levels of LR print sharpening and what output resolution work best for printer and paper, and for the various different types of image we do, most of us have all we need to get good prints. A screen preview is not the same as a test print in any case.

I agree that a method of previewing output sharpening would be a good idea; however, the principle is IMO sound - capture sharpen in LR, output sharpen at export or print time, or else transparently push out to Photoshop for specific, critical sharpening wherever LR tools fall short.
