No, that is the opposite of what I said! I said I don't know of any raw converters that act like that!

All the cases I have checked over the last year or two are able to support DNGs even from cameras that they don't recognise. The page I quoted identifies many such examples, based mostly on personal experiments, plus some reports from elsewhere.

Have a look at these examples, which I have been reporting since mid-2006. This isn't a new feature - it has existed in DNG from the start, and indeed ACR 2.4, released in January 2005, supports at least 150 cameras via DNG that it doesn't support via their native raws. Nearly all of these examples are of non-Adobe software.
