On the contrary, Adobe is in the ISO filing process to do exactly that, to hand it over to the industry. The only "partners" who have not moved this forward are the camera makers.

The ISO filing process has to be closed-door, so although Adobe would like to discuss that, they cannot at this stage, but Tom's interview (link above) talks a little about it.

I truly fail to see how Adobe is the bad guy here. The concerns on those posts are specifically what this initiative is about. As we've mentioned previously, if your camera shot DNG you would be completely free to use whatever software you wish... Adobe or not, CS4 or not.
