Casio QV3000 photo gallery

Spectacular,
You have an eye for composition.

To achive these vivids colours you might be using high contrast and Saturation in camera or tonal correction in software.
I can see that you have take this camera to its full potential.
Can you please share your camera settings and post-processing in software?

I have done many tests with mine and achive the conclusion of Normal Sharpness, High saturation and Low in Contrast give the best results.

But to create more punchy colours I have to increase contrast but it reduce dynamic range.

Good pics and beatifull subjects.

Keep shooting.

Thanks for the kind words. It brings me great joy to relive the images I have been privileged to experience by reviewing them over and over.

You are right.. One of my settings had been moved from default... Saturation was set to High. That explained why some of the colors were over-saturated. I believe they would have been better if set to normal. I have reset to Normal now. Flash is also set to low intensity, but it was seldom used on this shoot. I've read that contrast should be set to low, but I never got around to fiddling with it... so it was still at normal.

Most of the pictures were unaltered, except for cropping.

My "trick" is to always capture more in the picture than what I want in the final print. Then on the computer, I have the freedom to capture exactly what I want to include in the final print. The alternative (under capturing) has no solution, except to go back and shoot again... An expensive proposition for me in these cases. I make full use of all 3M pixels.

There were a couple of shots that seemed to appreciat one hit with sharpening... but that was rare.

The program I use for post processing is Picture Publisher 7. It came free with my scanner a long time ago and I know it better than anything else. Sometimes I use it to alter tone and hue values, but I don't believe any of these were modified that way... I'm in a trial on PP10, but jury is still out.

As far as failures were concerned, I shot nearly 500 pictures at the Keukenhof. I only deleted 5 of them, three because of forgetting to switch from Macro to normal, causing out of focus distant shots. The camera was flawless and seemed to made just for those scenes.

Silly now that I have bought a new Minolta Dimage 7i this week and have begun to use it. My wife will inherit the Casio, which she is excited to have. Montana trip is coming up soon and it will be a good contest as to who can produce the most representative pictures of the trip... She is awesome with people and I like my subjects to be less animated and intimidating. She eats that stuff up.

Don't worry, I'll be shooting a lot in the next months and we'll see if the D7i will supplant the quality of images the Casio has given me.

Beautiful pics. Holland must be lovely!

Yes, it is a beautiful country. My son live there now with his family. It is a good excuse to visit often.

Your pictures are great! Nature is such a great subject... seldom will you find two things alike, the same color, or the same shape in a single frame. It makes viewing them so interesting.
God did good!
