lenses for 450D....

Without knowing your budget id say
take a look, read reviews of the 17-40 f4 L

Should be a good lense for landscape

I'm going to buy a 450D in the immediate future and was wondering if
anyone could recommend what lens or lenses to use with the camera.
I'm talking about for landscape photography.
Use the best glass you can (pay for) in front of it's sensor.

The 450D in one of those cameras that "loves" good glass and rewards you with the respective IQ.
For landscape:

On the ultra-wide side - I would surely look into the 10-22 from Canon and the 11-16 from Tamron.

On the wide side - 17-40 or 17-55 (a much better choice and lens, if money allows) from Canon and the 17-50 from Tamron.
On the all-around side - 17-70 from Sigma.

Hope this helps.

Pedro

Why would you need all those fast lenses for landscape photography, why you are just going to be using f8-16? The 18-55 kit lens tests just as sharp as the others at mid apertures (except the 17-55 canon) and is almost free with the camera as a kit. I'd say start out with the kit, use it for a few months and see where you find it lacking. Make your next lens purchase based on that experience. Do get a solid tripod and a remote, though.

I agree that the kit lens will do just fine for landscape. However, you may want something wider than 18mm. In this case, Canon 10-22mm or Tokina 11-16mm are very nice for landscape.

Because they just happen to be good/excellent lenses...
why you are just going to be using f8-16?
I would never recommend using f16 with an APS-C sensor, especially with inferior glass... Even for Landscape Photography you may want to use large apertures...

You aren't talking seriously, for sure... :-) ... And besides the 450D has an excellent 12 MP sensor which "loves" good glass; in fact it begs for good or excellent ones!

A serious advice, undoubtedly!
