Do the test yourself, set up on a tripod, and take a few sets of (the same subject!) shoots with both settings, look at them at 100% and higher and tell us want you see.

I thank it is an interesting question. My guess, is it is based on they type of subject. Shoot outside of houses, then "the old bookcase" inside see how the file size changes and let us know.
