It certainly does. The 50D image is the only one to easily resolve the tick marks in the "120" section in the "Number of Times Reduction" portion of the circular paper calculator dial. There is a similar increase in detail in other features but only as expected for the difference in resolution (only about 10% in each dimension ... not very much). If all images had been shot in raw and processed in the same way, I'm sure that this would be more obvious. As they are, the images are all camera-processed JPEGs with different default internal processing parameters (even if apparently set the same).

It's also important to remember that even if a camera demands a lot of its lenses, there will be people interested in the extra resolution who'll seek out the better lenses accordingly. The capabilities of a camera typically exceed what the majority of owners will use but which a nonnegligible subset of demanding owners will be glad to have.
