Re: Does a small scratch on a lens affect the images?

I bought a 50-200 with a bunch of scratches on it. i could only see a slight effect at f/22. You really had to know where to look to see the defect on the photo. Since I rarely shoot 4/3 over f/11 due to diffraction, I accepted the lens with it's flaws.

I'm considering to buy a used 14-54mm Oly lens. It's offered on the
fourthirds forum. It does have a small scratch

seller claims it doesn't affect the performance. I really don't have
much experience with DSLR lenses, so perhaps the experienced folks
here could tell if a mark like that does or doesn't affect the
images? Or is it better to stay away?
