LX3 NYC 2 B&W 2 imgs

Wonderful shots,I love the tones you got from these monos. I am finding myself using the dynamic b/w film mode 90% of the time. :)

great shot.
i use b&w mode (dynamic) alot also.
It gives that crisp claasic b&w film look to it.

Starbucks at Union Square huh? nice...

I recently started taking B&W film photos, here's a picture I took in Hong Kong with a Bessa R2A rangefinder, Kodak 400 ISO. Look at all the film grain! I think that's too much, but I've gotten quite used to it and I think the LX3's B&W film mode is too clean... I wonder if cranking up the ISO level will introduce more "grain" to the pics?

I like your B&W images...................but have a question:

Why would you not shoot these same pictures in color and then post process them into B&W? Now you are stuck with B&W! If you shot them in color you could do anything you wanted with them. Not sure why a B&W mode is even available in these digital cameras.

It can save your time of processing... that is it... :)

Thanks for the compliments - I was experimenting with the new camera so I had it set to Multifilm so it took 2 shots - one was Dynamic B&W with -1 contrast and the other Standard. I am not shooting raw yet. Although I shoot raw with my D300

I find the dynamic B&W very nice and hard to replicate in pp

overall a great camera - when doing brick wall testing - I find softness at the edges of the frame but it gives good results in the field and that's what matters

wish I had more time in NYC - the visit was very short

here are 2 pics I took on my last trip - also only had 2 hours in the city - shot with a 3MP canon P&S
