5D tethered to 64-bit vista?

Having ascertained via searching DPR forums that there's no prospect of 64-bit WIA driver for 5D but only after buying a 64-bit Vista system in order to address 8 gig of RAM, I've seen two alternative solutions: "dual-boot" (install 32-bit in a separate partition) or "virtual PC" 32-bit within 64-bit installation (not sure I understand this one).

I want to be able to shoot tethered, with the captured images sent direct to LR2 or Bridge. Anyone any experience of the best way to achieve this? Would it require a second (32-bit) installation of the Adobe software? And, could both 32-bit and 64-bit OSs talk to the same data drives? I'm not very tech-savvy, only investing in 64-bit so as to defer the next PC upgrade as long as possible, but fear I've now bitten off more than I can chew!

Any advice much appreciated

thanks

David
