Tips for Theatre Photography please!

Tommorrow night I have the opportunity to take some photos at an amateur theatre rehersal. I've been told I can come along as often as I like to subsequent sessions to improve my technique

I'm a nature photographer so this is unchartered territory to me.

The auditorium is only about 50 m square

Plan so far:

1st session:

Spend most of 1st session familiarizing myshelf with the plot and its highlights
Take at least two good quality shots of every cast member, plus group shots
Available light if possible for at least some shots.
Keep flash to a minimum to avoid distracting actors

Camera body: D200 (fairly new to me), D70 as back up

Sigma 18-50 2.8
Tamron 90 2.8
Nikon 18-200 vr

SB800 (flash not my strong point)

2 batteries for each camera body

I love the quality of the D200, but I'm not that familiar with it yet? What settings would you suggest?

What flash settings would you recommend?

Which lens would you pick up first?

Any other tips?

I'd really like to be able to give each of the actors a few shots as a thank you so I need results worthy of the equipment.

Thanks in advance,
Linda R
