Sony A900: sub-$3K

The expected price is going to be sub-$3K, with 24.6MP, 100%VF at 0.74magnification, 5FPS at full-resolution, 3-4-stop IS in the body thus allowing further handholdability with the 50mms, the 85mms, the 135mms etc......and some additional higher-end features, which will be revealed with the body's release.

The newer Zeiss lenses are the Carl Zeiss 24-70 f/2.8 T* SSM Vario-Sonnar, Carl Zeiss 16-35 f/2.8 T* SSM Vario-Sonnar and a probable Carl Zeiss 70-200 f/2.8 T* Vario-Sonnar, all of whom are "stabilized" due to the body-based IS. Not counting the CZ 85mm f/1.4 Planar and the CZ 135mm f/1.8 Sonnar - both with Auto-focus.

In addition to the above, there are other newer "G" lenses ("L" in Canon-speak) like the 70-400 G f/4.5-5.6 SSM and the 70-300 G f/4.5-5.6 SSM.....and a variety of other as-yet-unrevealed lenses.

Remember these lenses are all 2008 designs (similar to the difference between a 70-200 f/4L IS's quality vs the older 70-200 f/4 L's quality), benchtested on high pixel density Full-frame digital sensors and are not film-era designs ekeing along in the digital age.

moonshot from the "drastic" price cut that camera will need if Sony
releases its A900 at given specs, around $3500-$4000.
