Could it be related to the fact that John is on a Mac?

I'm on Mac too; and tested the profile pretty thoroughly with
different Colorsync versions. It seems that there is a bug in NX2
call to Colorsync specifically, because it works with NX1. Very odd.
However, I do not see much reason to convert to sRGB in Nikon Capture

  • please see my "OT" post.

The reason to convert to sRGB in Capture vs. Photoshop / other is if you're trying to have an all-in-one solution. If you have to jump thru hoops (i.e., output to TIFF, open in Photoshop, etc.) just to get a usable JPEG, pretty much defeats the purpose.

I can and do use just about every converter / editor out there, but 95% of the time, it's Capture NX2 end-to-end. I only use another converter / editor when I need some specific feature Capture doesn't have (e.g., advanced cloning, distortion correction).
