Re: PC versus Mac

I'm not a professional photographer, but I am a professional programmer, dating back to when computer bits were large enough to see without a microscope.

Out of the box, Mac [OSX] systems come with a full suite of software development tools [IDE, Emacs, vi, several UNIX shells, make, ant, maven, Java, Perl, Gnu Compiler Collection, subversion, cvs, XWindow server and client......]

Windows machines come with Solitaire.

It has been by long standing gripe that clueless management [Dilbert 'pointy haired boss'] have mandated the use of Windows machines as the 'professional' software development platform in corporate settings [like the machine I'm typing this on]

i would recommend a mac if you're just using it for editting and
such. if you're a programmer or know coding or play some games here
and there and like more multimedia stuff i would say pc. macs crash
less although vista hasn't crashed for me but i have 4 gigs of ram
and i edit video and photos on my computer
low light photography / modern and classic rock photos
