Boatload of SD cards or an 80gb reader/storage device?

I shoot RAW on SD cards (I have 3x2GB), my wife shoots CF card (I do not recall what we have in those). We are going to be traveling for 2 weeks, so we (I at least) need either more cards or something to download to.

My first thought was to get a boatload of SD cards. Actually 4x4gb for total of 22GB of data or about 1139 images (Seems like a lot at first, but I developed a penchant for bracketing these days, so that is more like 380 photos, or only about 27 per day). I put cost around $150 ($80-90 with rebates).

This has me eyeing reader/storage devices in about that price range ($120-150) with a capacity of about 80GB (about 4150 images, over 1380 even if every image was bracketed and shot in RAW). How reliable are these devices?

Thanks,
Michael
