im going shopping !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not telling, otherwise they'll sell out :D

As for shooting, i will be coming from a softball game in Central Park, so i'll be dirty and sweaty. Not my idea of shooting in those conditions. Not sure how my Sunday will turn out. It would be cool to bump into you at the store, though.

Even if you didn't get a chance to hit up B&H - sounds like it was a hell of a good day. YAY!!! I was out today for the first time in a few weeks, at the local botanic garden. I was sooooo wishing for that 10-20mm - for that matter I was even thinking about this thread and your trip - I may just order it this week!

Also, loved the pic you posted - it's just excellent! NY - what a great place to go take pictures. LOL.

Hey what did you do to our Morris? He hasn't posted on this thread. Did you wear him out?
oh cmon do tell !! you know i was really upset that i could not make
it to pick up the 10-20mm, for i was really excited to see (hum
Aladin's theme song in your head as you read this) "A Whole New Wide"
!!
I was going to spend the weekend in New York but after shooting all
day (morris has a lot of pep in his step for a man his age, geez, he
climbs rocks and walls and runs to catch the sun in the right spot, i
had a hard time keeping up with him sometimes) i became very tired. I
didnt feel like looking for a hotel and besides i was able to take
some great pictures that i was dying to see on a monitor rather then
the lcd of the camera.
I want this lens so bad i just might drive back up sunday to pick it
up...what time are you going to be there ?? if i decide to go do you
want to meet up and play with out new toys in the photographer's
sandbox that is New York. ?? shoot me an email

I also enjoyed the fine company Arthur and seeing things through your eyes. It will be a few days till I have the photos ready. Looking at the raw images I can say I’m very happy with some. I look forward to seeing what you captured.

Morris

Hi Arthur,

All that HDR work and you forgot to level the horizon :-} The slow shutter on the water looks great as do the fine details you captured. If this shoot wore your out, you better work out before heading to the East Pond with me. Walking in all that mud is like having led boots on.

ahhhh the 900....congrats !! you sold the sb-800 to B&H??

I was going to come up but the rain scared me away...it'll have to be
next weekend. i might order the 10-20 beforehand though because i
dont think ill be able to wait that long ;)
Thanks.

No, I sold to a local buyer and put up the rest for the SB-900. I wanted more power, recycle faster (and with only 4 batteries as opposed to 5 AA batteries in the SB-800) and a flash that would electronically work better with the new Nikon cameras, especially my D300.

Hi Dez,

How much bigger is it than the SB800? I have not seen you do that
much flash work. This purchase surprised me.

Morris
It is slightly wider and taller than the SB-800. The interface of the SB-900 is way better and easier to understand. It recycles faster (so they say), can effectively work with the D300 51 AF points, has a longer reach and can rotate more freely than the SB-800 could. It supposedly covers a wider range, 17mm - 200m, which sounds like a perfect fit with the 18-200 VR lens.

It also works faster on 4 AA batteries than it did with 5 AA batteries on the SB-800.

I decided to upgrade due to working a few indoor photo gigs this past spring and this summer. I have a baptism & wedding to do soon and a photo shoot.

The SB-900 flash will pay for itself ;)
