I also use the G9 because it's one of the few compacts with raw capability, and combined with Adobe camera Raw the noise is the least of the problems. I find that it's pretty much "silent" compared to most of other P&S cameras.

I don't worry to shoot up to iso 400 (and I'm used to watch my 5d photos now...).

Overall the image quality is very good. Some examples: (from raw) - click on the "i" icon to see the exif, and on the image itself to see the original size:

I personally don't care about the viewfinder, the big display does its job. The body is metal (heavy) but very sturdy. That includes the buttons and the usb/video plug cover. I also love the dedicated Iso selection wheel, that should be a must also on any dSLR!

Coming from a Sony T-10, this was really refreshing for me.
