Imagine you have 1 box...

We could maybe extend that analogy bypassing the technical concept of noise.

A series of wooden boxes, each subdivided with further internal dividers made of cardboard. Marbles sit in all the various compartments. Lift out the bits of cardboard. All the marbles are exactly where they were before, as originally distributed. Some detailed positional information has been lost - but each wooden box's total is unchanged.

Now working it back the other way, we have some boxes with marbles in, and press in some card dividers, nudging each marble into one or another subdivision. We can't know any LESS about the positions of the marbles than we did before, since all we knew was the number in each wooden box - however randomly the marbles behave when the card dividers are inserted.
