It may be useful, but it is only part of the equation. It's like judging fuel economy by the capacity of a gas tank; you also need to know how many miles or kilometers you get on a tankful of gas to judge efficiency. In the same way, you need to know how big a pixel is going to be displayed to fully know how noisy it is.
