Vista 64bit on a new PC

Hi guys

Eventually have my desktop PC settled, in additional to the 5 year old Pentium 2.4C HT on XP pro 32 bit

My setup includes Q9450 on a Asus P5Q delux motherboard with 8Gb DDR2 RAM, Sapphire ATI 4850 graphic card (512Mb DDR3 ram) connected to a Dell 2450 monitor and a Sun 18" LCD. I have 5 WD 640Gb harddisk installed and NOT on any RAID system after hearing advices from two independent system manager and hardware engineer.

With Vista 64bit Vista just installed, I noticed some problems

1. Speed: obviously it is slower than a comparable system wiht Q9300 on an X-48 board with RAID 5 installed. Why? Does RAID contribute so much on the raw read/write speed so much

2. Dual display: as my previous exprience with ATI display, I have received "display card driver not responding" message on and off. Very annoying indeed.

3. RAW drivers: obviously the Microsoft Photo Gallery does not have automatic updating facility and I have to go the my camera's site for information, etc Fujifilm, Canon, Minolta and Sony, not so successfully.

4. Image browser: Apart from MS Photo Gallery, I also have free Faststone Image Viewer and Picassa installed, Faststone has problems sometimes crashing with the OS while Picassa does not support network drives. I wonder if Lightroom or Adobe bridge will do a better job
