According to the British Journal of Photography website, the latest print issue has a review of the Contax N Digital:

"You will see these pictures nowhere else: BJP has secured the first production review sample of the Contax N Digital. John Clements introduces his in-depth report with the very first photographs to appear in any UK magazine."

Has anyone seen this magazine yet?

Yes, I've seen the magazine -- I have copy on the desk beside me. The Contax 'review' is only one page long and is described as 'first impressions' that is a 'taster' for a 'forthcoming comprehensive review'. It also says that no other magazine, NOR ANY WEBSITE, has yet secured a final production sample of the Contax N Digital and that BJP has the only review model currently in the country (UK). I haven't read the article in detail, but really it is no more than a summary of the cameras design basis and specification; it concludes "in the coming weeks we will find out ... whether the final package is worth the wait -- and the money." So you need to see BJP over the next few weeks for the review proper.

This weeks's edition also contains the first installment of a comprehensive review of the Canon EOS D60.

I had a glance at the magazine; nothing to get excited about. on the review of the Contax or the D60.The shots from the D60 could have been taken with a one megapixel camera. When the BJP falls flat on its face it does so in a big way.

I know you want to hear about the Contax but the only sensible thing that the Mr Clements (?) the reviewer of the D60 said was that the D60 was not a camera to autofocus with easily but that the controls generally were better than the 1D in that they were easier to use.

I do know that when I brought a sample D60 up to my eye with a fast prime lens the small dim viewfinder was a great disappointment.

With regard to the Contax, I felt a non working camera recently at Calumet and I can't undrstand how a company could spend so much time preparing a camera and could get the grip so wrong. It is truly horrible and very wearying.

Even if the Phillips chip in this camera was red hot (and it may well be physically hot!) I wouldn't be interested in this camera.

Roll on Photokina, there has got to be more mature products available soon!

After reading the article properly, the only thing of signifance is that it states: "The first point to note is that inside the camera is the latest chip from Philips. It is not the original design that BJP and other parties were shown when the prototypes were doing the rounds, and any comments posted about the camera elsewhere are therefore now out of date in terms of the technology employed."

So, a completely new sensor!

Somehow I doubt that the 'technology' is different ... only the implementation!
