Re: Wow. This was unexpected!

unexpected?

Love it, it has depth that I rarely see in a photo. I feel like I could walk into the image through my screen!

very cool shot, congratulations

Thanks guys, this was fun
I am honoured to be picked as winner looking at the quality of the
other shots posted, and thanks a lot for the nice comments. Also i
must admit i was happy with the theme as i really like night
photography and have taken many of my best shots using a long
exposure
This particular shot was taken on a family vacation in the Norwegian
mountains this christmas. Me and my younger brother went out in the
middle of the night, at a chilly -14 C, to get some interesting night
shots and were awarded with a fantastic, crisp winter landscape with
moonlight and everything.
We brought only the D200, the Sigma 10-20, a cheap tripod and a
SB-800 flash and in the shot my brother is running around in the
foreground flashing the SB-800 manually
I think he fired of four flashes at 1/16 power during the 30 sec
exposure, and luckily managed not to get any light on himself or
directly at the camera.
We only attempted the shot once, and when the shot appeared on the
lcd i remember laughing to myself as i didn't expect it to turn out
as well as it did
At 4 am we had to turn in as i could hardly feel my feet anymore, but
it was no doubt one of my most rewarding shoots ever.

I am looking forward to hosting the next challenge. If i remember
correctly i have 72 hours to come up with a new theme and get the
thread going?

And thanks again
