Well, assuming the cost of the R2880 cartridges is the same as those
for the R2400, here's how the ink costs of the R2880 and the HP B9180
compare. (Prices in US dollars, from Atlex.)

Epson R2880: $11.20 for 11ml, or $1.02/ml.
HP B9180: $29.99 for 27ml, or $1.10/ml.

Draw your own conclusion.

Looks pretty much in the same ball park. The HP is a little better on coverage per ml, and the cartridges are all but emptied , yet the daily maintenance of the print heads will make this scenario level for both printers being overall costs of ink per print.
