I would have to agree that you may want to spring the extra cash and go for the Sigma 10-20mm. If you spent say $300 for some so-so lens that you end up disliking in a while, would it not be worth it to spend the extra money for a lens that you will enjoy for many years down the road ?

I have the Sigma 10-20mm and I am happy with my choice (if money were no object, I probably would have gone with the Nikon 12-24mm - but way out of my budget).

Ultimately, you will have to make up your mind on what is the maximum money you can or want to spend and that your decision will meet your shooting requirements.
