Why are Zeiss so much expensive?

I know that almost all of Zeiss lenses are superior compare to original Nikkor lens to lens. But I've search for their website (www.zeiss.com), and can't found anything about the elements spec of each lens. If zeiss don't use what we know eq: ED glass, Asperical, Silent Wave Motor, VR, Nano coating or whatever that can come on our mind "ohh, that's make the lens expensive", plus the NO AF motor, so what on earth make the Zeiss so much expensive? I found that the zeiss 35/2 is 3 fold the price of Nikon 35/2; the Zeiss 50/1.4 is twice Nikkor 50/1.4, and the Zeiss Makro 100/2 more than twice Nikkor AFS105VR. So what exactly make the Zeiss so much expensive, is the optical does really this expensive or only the brand factor? Any though?

regards,
hendry
