Kodak may be a player again ...

well, good luck to them... now.. when again were they a player?

They're missing their strength, the MASS market.
They should put a foolproof decent $49 (street) fixed focus camera out there (they came close with the C300 and C530 at double the price) and a decent $49 photo printer like the little HPs - but at $49 (street), and easy to use ink/paper packs (they do sortof have this but for their small dyesub printers). They could have upsell models of each, but the key is the basic models. Just like the old days.
The NEW KODAK DIGITAL INSTAMATIC. Saturation marketed, like the old days.
They could sell 5 million of each. The Kodak brand is the value.
But nooooooooooo...they want to be just an also ran in more pricey digital cameras and sell off their industrial businesses as they decline.

Some companies can transition from one technology to another quite successfully. For example, Dolby Laboratory made a successful transition from cassetter tape (which are now obsolete) noise reduction to surround sound processing.
Let's see if Kodak can transform itself successfully.

So far it looks like Fujifilm is the strongest (or the least weak) going forward. They have produced credible digital printers for the commercial and professional levels.
