Hey guys looking to buy a decent budget 8gb CF mem card, can get both these for around the same price. The Transcend overall seems like a more reputable brand and has a heavier memory card (10g vs 11.4g - which would indicate a stronger build perhaps?).

Anyhow going in a 40d. So if anyone has any other suggestions (i.e. better bang for buck brands) please, shoot!

Kind Regards,
-Bryan

Why not stick with a brand leader like Sandisk Extreme?
My rule is only use the best. Cheap means trouble.

Transcend has been around for 20 years. Kingston is one of world's largest with a lifetime warranty and 24/7 support.

Jules,
You must use the SanDisk Extreme Ducati with a tranfer rate of 45 MBps.

CF prices have continued to drop and the major brands are cheap. Really. If you buy some off-brand dirt cheap CF, or a name brand for 75% discount from ebay, you will create a weak link in your equipment. You get what you pay for and saving a few bucks is not worth it.

Yeah, I already have a C6 8gb SDHC transcend for my 450d, works great. Decided to go with the 8gb transcend 133x for the 40d because I got it off a reputable dealer and has a lifetime warranty :p.

Would be interesting to see how some of these other brands rate though against the 133x, (that being the 200x silicon power, 120x PQI etc.).

I have been using a set of Transcent 32GB cards for some time and have never had a single problem.

On the other hand I shoot with a D3 configured in back up mode so that a card's failure would have no impact.

Cheers,
Bernard
