Received my SIDO® batteries for my 450D today...

ordered a two-pack from a seller on ebay... made payment on april 25, and the two arrived from HK today (may 1), so pretty fast... no paperwork or instructions, just two batteries in small poly bags, inserted into a small (3"x5") gold colored string-tied envelope (like the kind they use in offices for inter-office mail, but much smaller)

the manufacturing quality of the individual batteries seems pretty good... the large top and bottom surfaces are slightly textured very similarly to the Canon battery... the battery fits perfectly into my 450D (well, one of them fit perfectly... the other has a small imperfection in the plastic surrounding one of the battery pins... this should have been picked up by QC but it does till plug in, and that part of the plastic is black, so perhaps a blink and it was out the door... i may ask for an exchange... not sure yet)

the SIDO is marked 1280mAh, while the Canon is marked 1080mAh, but the weights are virtually identical (the SIDO's are perhaps 1/10th of an ounce lighter on my postal scale), so i'm not sure where the extra 200mAh comes from... (extra virgin fairy dust?)

in any event the batteries fit well in the charger, so i'm gonna charge them up and see how they run (the first SIDO was pretty well pre-charged (!) and i'm going to test the second as i start to shoot with the first.

the pair were $28 including shipping, so $14/per battery.... even if they have only the same capacity as the Canon, its a cheap back-up...

cheers
robin
