PS. About ultrasonic motors - it's not that they are much faster
(except 85mm 1.2L) and completely silent, and are draining less
battery - but the most important thing is that nothing rotates (35mm,
50mm anyone?) at the front of the lens, so you can use the damn
polarizer

Are you sure you're using Nikkor AF lenses? Because the AF 85mm
f/1.4, AF 50mm f/1.8, AF 135mm f/2.0 DC Nikkor primes I know does not
have their front elements rotate...

Yes, I am.

The lenses I mentioned in parentheses (35mm, 50mm - I meant 1.4 version, never had the 1.8) rotate the front element.

85mm 1.4 and 135mm f2 (both of which I also own) indeed do not rotate. But on the other hand they are very cumbersome for manual focusing with their AF-M switch.

On the other hand, I'm very surprised with 135mm f/2 DC. It's a very good lens, sharp wide-open, focuses accurately and feels great. The only (unfortunately quite big) cons of this lens is CA when shooting wide-open - I'm getting a lot of CA, much more than with Canon's 135mm f/2.0L version.

Anyway, despite of CA I find the 135mm f/2.0 DC lens fantastic. I'm very happy that I bought one.
