Thanks for taking the time to answer. I picked up the older non-digital ringflash(7759). However I did email Promaster and I was told "it does not have the low sync voltage requirements for digital cameras and there is no module available that will attach to this flash that is compatible with the Maxxum 5D." Even the 9823 module is not recommended for the 5d. Only the newer 7140 is compatible with the 5D and the Sonys.
I would love to search the forums for someone who used the non-digital flash and not fry their 5D, but as you know, the search does not go beyond January 2007 so all those years of info are lost. Unless someone can find a thread from their own history, there's no way to gather info from this site.
