Prague (tons of pics)

I spent this years Easter holidays in one of the cities I would describe as mystical: Prague. Well, this impression came up about 10 years ago, when I went there for the first time. Last (and second) time was a bit of a disillusioning experience, because the city was not only crowded with tourists (quite naturally during such days) but also with shops selling all kinds of junk. However, we tried to enjoy food, beer and the city as good as we could. And looking up at the castle and St. Vitus Cathedral looming in the darkness of the night still feels magical and thus I took (too many) photos. For the first time I used the combined raw+jpeg/fine output but the superior results of the processed raw files convinced me not to save jpegs any longer! Apart from the possibilities (WB, dynamic range, etc) the pictures contain so much more detail and clarity. I hope, you enjoy watching the following images, which I collected from my Prague gallery at . There you will also find the full sized originals. All were shot with a D80, Sigma 10-20mm, Nikon 18-200mm and the 50mmf/1.4 prime.

1/13s, f/9.0, ISO 100, 10mm

Of course I could not resist to point the Sigma up to the ceiling...
1/8s, f/4.0, ISO 800, 10mm

A silly reflection shot
1/25s, f/10.0, ISO 100, 60mm

I was delighted how much detail is conserved e.g. in bright windows when using raw:
1/15s, f/1.8, ISO 200, 50mm (prime)

One of my very few BIF
1/1600s, f/2.0, ISO 100, 50mm (prime)

Prague castle complex at dusk...
10s, f/10.0, ISO 100, 42mm

...and a closeup...
15s, f/10.0, ISO 100, 135mm

and again the castle with the Charles Bridge at night (different day with better weather)
15s, f/11.0, ISO 100, 24mm

Inside the castle
30s, f/8.0, ISO 100, 12mm

Only one picture of the cathedral, there are more in my gallery
10s, f/8.0, ISO 100, 15mm

Leaving the castle
10s, f/8.0, ISO 100, 10mm

Some of the bridges across the Vltava
1/640s, f/11.0, ISO 800 accidentally :-(, 48mm

Playing (too much) in PP
6s, f/8.0, ISO 100, 14mm

More conventional
13s, f/11.0, ISO 100, 18mm

The famous astronomical clock
1/13s, f/5.6, ISO 800, 170mm (thanks VR)

Two images from the Old Jew Cemetary
1/13s, f/5.0, ISO 100, 62mm

1/10s, f/4.8, ISO 100, 55mm

Best regards,
