I like this a lot - hadn't thought of high-pass for this. I found I
needed to reduce the opacity quite a bit (I'm only comfortable with
about 10-15%, but even that adds a nice "snap" to the end-product).

I'd forgotten about this thread! Apologies - I should have mentioned in my original answer the need to reduce the opacity. You're absolutely right about having to reduce it according to the needs of the image.
