firmware would be nice...

although I agree with you that it probably won't be done that way. Too bad becuase it really would be a bonus to me. Oh well, its not really hindering my shooting at all...just something I was used to with the D70 that I would like to have in the D300

Ah - I understand now. No, unfortunately, I don't know how to turn
off the highlights in the full-screen view without going back to the
Display menu. I would like that option myself - seems like it could
be an additional page in the info display, with just a firmware
change, but I wouldn't bet on the chances that it will happen.
