Re: Non-RAID Multi Bay HDD Storage

I don't buy solutions, but I did buy an HP Media Vault. It came with one 500G drive, and I added another. The Media Vault connects via gigabit ethernet, firewire, or USB 2, so it's pretty flexible on how you get into it. It's on my home LAN with a couple of Macs connected to it via ethernet, plus an EEE PC that connects via WiFi.

I think it can be set up for RAID, but like you I just wanted big storage, so I have the two disks set up for us to drag files to for archiving.

It's US$250 at Amazon for the 500G drive, plus whatever you want to spend for the second drive. The device runs on Linux, by the way.
