Turn IS Off?????????????? (Sports shooting)

As promised - some shots with IS off this past weekend. Unfortunately, I didn't get any really great shots, but here are a few decent ones.

I can't say I noticed any real difference with the IS off. As usual I was in Av mode wide open at 4.0 and I used ISO 200. My shutter speeds were usually around 1/1000.

Previously I usually had about one instance per game where the lens got completely confused and totally blurred up. Well, it happened once this game too, so IS wasn't to blame. I can't say I'm sold either way with IS at very high shutter speeds.

Oh well. Thanks once again to everyone who participated in this thread. It has been an interesting discussion.

BTW - has anyone else noticed a rather serious degradation on some pictures when photobucket downsizes the images?
