Re: Keep Acronis off the HDs to be cloned

There seems to be a tendency to refer to the "entire backup funcrions) to be referred to as CLONING. Cloning is definitely different to doing a Drive (or Partition) backup to an image file(s).

You are correct IF** actually Cloning a Drive, AND doing this within Windows AND Using the Windows interface -- but the comment is NOT applicable when doing a Backup to an Image file since the Image File is NOT executable until it has been restored to a Hard Drive and Booted to use that setup.

Again, I will mention that I NEVER use the CLONE function (except when I originally tested the software).

Also, whan I tested, I used either a Boot Floppy Disk or CD and was NOT using either Windows or the Windows Interface.

When it's on the drive being cloned, there are two C drives after the
clone is made.
Windows doesn't like two drives with the same letter! So the Acronis
voodoo starts, sometimes it works... and sometimes not. Why? I
don't know or care at this point.
I crashed or damaged half dozen or so OS's trying to get it to work
with my configuration. May work with yours, but if it fails, it will
be painful, and cost you a full reload.
