How does the D3 achieve such high ISO?

Could 1Ds3 also produce ISO 25400?

Are you saying that Canon could configure the 1Ds3 sensor to produce the same high ISO options that Nikon made available with the D3?

If so, can that be managed with a software enhancement?

Or, can I just use Manual mode and set my shutter speed and aperture on my 1Ds3 as though I have ISO in the range of 12800 or even 25400 and then push the RAW file in processing it?

I've experimented and am amazed at what I can pull out of a file that appears completely black on my LCD. But, I don't have a D3 to take comparison photos; and consequently don't know if the D3 would do better.

Even with my 1Ds3 set at H, while I am amazed at what I get, the noise is obvious. But for nighttime urban photography of street scenes, noise isn't an issue since it actually provides ambiance.
