D3 magazine review

In the latest issue of Swedish magazine Kamera&Bild there is a review of Nikon D3 (and Canon 1Ds3. There are lots of superlatives, just thought I would mention one aspect which I am not sure has been discussed much. Its about the ability to take punishment in postprocessing at low ISOs.

They took an image at base ISO in a dimly lit church with a D3 (ISO 200), Canon 5D (ISO 100) and a Canon 1DsIII (ISO 100). They lifted the shadows heavily in PP. The 5D revealed plenty of noise - probable reason two year old design and unsufficiently isolated electronics. The 1DsIII was much better, but the noise was visible and colors (from a painted window with biblical motive) muted. The result from the D3 shined in the test, the image didnt fall apart and the colors were saturated.

Another remark - they wrote that the 14-24 would go straight to the optical history.
